As this blog is new, I haven’t taken up one of the WordPress paid account options on it yet. There is a good chance I will do in the near future, but I think, rather than paying full whack on it, I might wait until they send me a special offer email, which generally happens a couple of weeks after you’ve launched a new blog. (I’ve started anew a few times!)
EDIT: They did send me a 50% discount for a year’s subscription to the basic offer, as predicted above, so I have now done that…(I’m now skippedgear.com, without the wordpress addition in the address too) so this entire post is ruined… although maybe not for some for whom it’s new information, so I’ll leave it alone.
In the meantime, WordPress have started inserting ‘Sponsored Posts’ on some free users blogs. I don’t know if this appears as well as, or instead of, the little adverts they used to run on them when you have not committed to paying anything for your blogging space yet. As I run an ad blocker, I don’t see that sort anyway, but of course a ‘Sponsored Post’ gets past many ad blockers.
This is very deeply annoying, but of course, it’s meant to be so that you go for a paid account.
This is what they put in your notifications panel to explain it.
So, if you do see a Sponsored Post here, very sorry, but it’s not one of mine, I have no choice, it wasn’t me.
This has been a public information post on behalf of skipped gear.
