It seems that Haiku has become a way of describing any verse that is simply constructed in a standard 5-7-5 syllable form. Haiku has become a bit like googling or hoovering. It is not always technically ‘the thing’, but has come to be widely understood as ‘the thing’.

So, mostly what I write are really Senryu, which are generally approached with perhaps more humorous or satiric content, rather than trying to convey the emotions and experience of nature that pure Haiku is meant to be.

Anyway, here’s a 5-7-5 syllable… Haiku. But it’s probably really a Senryu. Or something else with 5-7-5 syllables.
